Playing a live game 2/3/5 200max bet spread limit. I am the button and limp with 44 after about 5 people limp. Flop comes down 4. Co bets $20, I make it $75, he makes it $275. I put him all in for $425 total. He limped the CO with TT.

Playing at a tight table or 6 max I agree with you, but a loose passive live FR table raising small pairs has less ev than raising. I still get paid when someone hits an ace in this spot. Raising small pairs gives you two advantages. It limits the field so you can win with a flop bet even if you miss and to build a pot so you make sure you get paid off when you do hit. In this spot raising helps with neither.

Now I have no idea what the guy was doing limping TT, that is usually a raising hand even for the most passive FR player. Just a really bad spot. If Roy were here he'd say that a better player would have hit the one out on the river, he is probably right.

Actually I'm surprised you didn't hit a 4 on the turn only to watch a ten fall on the river. Otherwise set over set...meh, std, etc.
